Vegetarian Food in Ao Nang

I ate SO well in Ao Nang. Thailand is already one of my favorite places for food, but I was especially impressed by how many vegetarian options I found around Ao Nang. From Thai and Indian food to healthy brunch spots and cafés, I had no problem finding meat-free meals here. These are some of the places I personally tried during my trip!

    Pure Vegetarian Dosa Corner

If you love Indian food, add this one to your list. Pure Vegetarian Dosa Corner is completely vegetarian and specializes in South Indian food, including dosas, along with other Indian dishes. This was a great option when I wanted a meal where I didn’t have to worry about navigating a meat-heavy menu.

    Zenith Cafes

One of my favorite brunch-style stops. I had avocado toast topped with poached eggs, and the presentation was beautiful. The smoothie bowl was just as gorgeous, loaded with fresh dragon fruit, banana, granola and pomegranate. Zenith is a great option when you’re craving something lighter. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly with breakfast, bowls, smoothies and other plant-forward options.

Note: For vegan travelers: This is vegetarian/vegan-friendly rather than strictly vegan. Check individual menu items if following a vegan diet.

What to Order in Ao Nang

Vegetarian Pad Thai 🍜

You can’t go to Thailand without eating Pad Thai. One of my favorite meals was a vegetarian Pad Thai with tofu, vegetables, bean sprouts and peanuts.

Vegetarian tip: Don’t assume Pad Thai is vegetarian simply because it doesn’t contain visible meat. Fish sauce, oyster sauce or other animal-based ingredients may still be used. Ask specifically for a vegetarian version.

What I’d Eat Again

  • 🥘 For Indian food: Pure Vegetarian Dosa Corner
  • 🥑 For brunch: Zenith Cafes
  • 🥭 For something fresh: The Verandah Café
  • 🍜 Classic Thailand choice: Vegetarian Pad Thai
  • 🍝 For a change of cuisine: Spaghetti House

Is Ao Nang Good for Vegetarians?

YES. I found Ao Nang surprisingly easy as a vegetarian. There are dedicated vegetarian restaurants, tons of Indian food, vegetarian-friendly cafés and plenty of Thai dishes that can be made without meat.

The biggest thing I’d watch for is hidden ingredients in Thai dishes. A dish that looks vegetarian may still contain fish sauce, oyster sauce or another animal-based ingredient, so I recommend confirming when ordering.

Overall, I ate incredibly well here and would have no hesitation returning to Ao Nang as a vegetarian.
