How Airport Lounge Access Changed the Way I Travel

I travel a lot, and I often work while I'm on the road. Somewhere along the way, airport lounges became one of my favorite travel resources.

Why I Love Airport Lounges

Airports used to be the part of a trip I just tried to get through. Now, when I have lounge access, travel days feel so much calmer. For me, a lounge usually means:

  • A comfortable place to sit and work between flights
  • Reliable Wi-Fi
  • Outlets to charge my phone, laptop and camera gear
  • A quieter space than the busy terminal
  • Food and drinks, which is a lifesaver on long travel days
  • A place to decompress before the next leg
  • A much better layover experience overall
  • In some lounges, extras like showers

Every lounge is different, so amenities, food options and space really vary depending on the airport and the lounge.

Why Lounges Are Especially Valuable When I’m Working While Traveling

Because I often combine travel with remote work, airport time isn’t always downtime for me. Sometimes I have emails to answer, edits to finish or a deadline before I land.

Having somewhere to sit, plug in, connect to Wi-Fi, grab something to eat and work comfortably can turn a long layover into genuinely productive time. Some of my most focused work sessions have actually happened in a lounge between flights.

How I Get Airport Lounge Access

One of the ways I personally get lounge access is through my Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card. Since I fly Delta often, it fits the way I already travel, and lounge access is the benefit I notice most on travel days.

Card benefits, lounge access rules, eligibility and terms can change, so always check the current details directly with American Express and Delta before relying on any specific benefit.

Lounges Make Travel Days Easier

For me, lounge access isn’t about making travel feel fancy. It’s about making travel days easier. When I can grab something to eat, charge everything, open my laptop and actually get work done during a layover, the airport becomes part of a productive travel day instead of hours of lost time.
