Denver

A mile-high base camp for mountain lovers, where early workdays leave long afternoons for red-rock parks, alpine lakes, and a city scene that is surprisingly vegetarian-friendly.

  • A packed concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Morrison, Colorado, with the stage glowing red under a blue dusk sky© VeggieTravelGirl

See a Concert at Red Rocks

Red Rocks is one of the best concert venues I've ever been to. It's technically in Morrison, about 30 minutes west of Denver, and the park itself is free to explore. The setting is incredible and going to a show here is one of my favorite Colorado experiences, but there are definitely a few things worth knowing before your first concert.

    Miranda's Red Rocks Concert Tips

    • Arrive a couple of hours early — I like having extra time instead of rushing in.
    • Parking was free on my visits, but check the venue's current parking info.
    • Depending on where you park, expect a big uphill walk and lots of stairs to your seat. Shuttles helped visitors get toward the top when I went; check current shuttle and accessibility details.
    • Colorado weather changes fast. I've been there in rain and cold, and it's brutal if you're not prepared — check the forecast and bring rain and cold-weather layers.
    • Food, drinks and bathrooms are available inside the venue.
    • Leaving takes a while: rideshare pickups are hard with thousands of people exiting, and the parking lots can be slow to clear.
    • Bag, snack and drink rules can change, so check the official policies before you pack.

Miranda's TipDon't underestimate the weather or the walk. Arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, bring layers, and give yourself plenty of time to leave after the show.

I use ClassPass when I travel because a traditional gym membership tied to one location doesn’t work well with how often I’m away from home. I’ve used it for workouts around the U.S., including Georgia, Colorado and Oregon.
